About · The maker

Twenty years at the chair. A decade at the keyboard. One craft.

Davide Furlotti — master colourist, founder of HairColorGPT, restless about both.

I've spent two decades inside one craft because I love it more, not less. The longer you sit with colour, the bigger it gets — the harder the questions, the finer the choices. I built HairColorGPT to give those questions, and those choices, a place to live.

"I never wanted a shortcut. I wanted a partner."

Track 01

The Colourist.

Twenty years on the floor between Italy and abroad. Trained on Wella, Sebastian, and System Professional. Worked across L'Oréal, Aveda, Davines, Oribe, Kérastase — different schools, the same obsession with what the chair really needs.

I've always believed that the difference between a good colourist and a senior one is not technique. It's the consultation. Reading the client before reading the swatch. Naming the risk before naming the formula. That moment is where the work lives, and where the craft never gets old.

Track 02

The Builder.

I started writing notes long before I started writing code. Lists of cases, lists of failures, lists of small protocols that worked. Eventually the notebooks became spreadsheets. Eventually the spreadsheets weren't enough.

Technology is leverage — multiplied taste, multiplied care. I love what AI is starting to make possible for a real-world craft like ours: not generic answers, but structured reasoning next to the chair. A tutor that has read everything I've read, and remembers everything I've forgotten.

Milestones

The shape of the work.

  1. 2004

    First chair, first formula.

Started as an assistant in a salon outside Milan. Six months in, I was writing my first formula card. I still have it.

  2. 2012

    Senior & trainer.

By the time I made senior I was running brand training rooms — Wella, Sebastian, System Professional. Teaching is what taught me how I actually thought about colour.

  3. 2019

    Notebooks → code.

The first internal tool: a simple consultation form built on top of a brand-line catalog. Ugly. Useful. The seed of everything.

  4. 2025

    HairColorGPT, public.

Self-funded. Built for colourists, by a colourist. Hundreds of pages of internal protocol, a senior in your pocket, and an Academy that grows with the team.

What I believe

Three things I keep coming back to.

  1. 01

Colour decisions deserve better than memory.

30 to 50 percent of salon revenue rides on colour. The technical depth deserves a notebook that thinks with you — not against you.

  2. 02

AI should support the colourist, not replace them.

HairColorGPT structures reasoning, retrieves brand rules, and remembers the client. It doesn't pick up the bowl. The senior at the chair is still the senior at the chair.

  3. 03

    Privacy is not optional.

Client photos are face-blurred. Client data belongs to the salon. We never train models on client images. Trust is part of the colour service.

Two loves. One tool.
